A shocking turn of events unfolded on this week’s WWE SmackDown, leaving fans reeling as Drew McIntyre launched a brutal attack on Cody Rhodes.
The show kicked off with Paul Heyman and The Vision in the ring, setting the stage for the upcoming Survivor Series WarGames match. This highly anticipated match will pit CM Punk, Cody Rhodes, Roman Reigns, and The Usos against a formidable team consisting of Brock Lesnar, Drew McIntyre, and The Vision.
The Usos, not one to back down, interrupted Heyman’s promo, reminding him that they had backup. Heyman countered by pointing out the numerical disadvantage, but the Usos remained unfazed, with Cody Rhodes’ music hitting shortly after.
But here’s where things got intense: the broadcast cut to backstage footage, revealing McIntyre stepping off a tour bus while Rhodes lay battered on the ground. The attack added a layer of unpredictability to the already heated rivalry.
In other SmackDown action, Carmelo Hayes secured his spot in the quarterfinals of the Last Time Is Now tournament. He faced Bronson Reed in an opening-round match. The Vision, supporting Reed at ringside, wasted no time inserting themselves into the match, adding to the chaos. Bron Breakker distracted the referee, and Logan Paul interfered, slowing Hayes’ momentum.
And this is the part most people miss: Breakker later attempted to capitalize on the chaos by attacking Hayes, but The Usos intervened, evening the odds. Rhodes, still reeling from McIntyre’s earlier assault, seized an opportunity, delivering a Cross Rhodes to Reed behind the referee’s back.
The referee began the count, and Reed couldn’t make it back into the ring, resulting in Hayes’ victory and advancement.
Carmelo Hayes will now face GUNTHER in the quarterfinals on next week’s WWE RAW. GUNTHER is considered the favorite to win the tournament and potentially face John Cena at next month’s Saturday Night Main Event.
